When you buy darts online it can be difficult to know which ones to choose as there are so many different types of dart available. As a general rule, beginners will find heavier darts easier to throw as they do not slow down as quickly in the air as a lighter dart and so do not need to be thrown as hard, which allows for a slower, smoother throw which is easier to control. The most popular weight range for most darts is between 21 - 26g, but for many new players we would recommend considering darts from 26g upwards.
Tungsten darts are considered to be better as they can be made thinner than a brass dart and are therefore easier to group in tight spaces and more stable in the air, but if budget is a concern, brass darts are cheaper and can be a cost effective way to work out your ideal weight before committing to a set of tungsten darts.
As you gain experience, your throw will become more efficient, allowing for a faster throw for the same effort and a lighter dart is more likely to suit.Â
If you are local to the Brisbane or Gold Coast areas of QLD, rather than you buy darts online, we would recommend paying us a visit at our Yatala darts shop to try out a few different weights and styles first to find the darts best suited to your game before purchasing.
